There could be a million reasons for that story.

For serious- have you seen how Kai lives?  A small ass apartment.  And he has no luxury items.  No car, no XBOX, nothing like that.  He talks about how those things will eventually come- he does not need them now.

But at the same time- Kai was struggling with money entirely.

“After the contest he broke down and cried on my shoulder.  And he said ‘I’m glad you have this best poser award.  Because I have 7 dollars in my pocket and going home to New York I wouldn’t know what I am going to do for the rest of my life.”

thats what i mean, he knew etirely what he had to do and did. Nothing is going to stop him. He’ll take the Olympia, just a mtter of time.
